Now I know that this pattern is on the easier side. However, I do plan on going over some more advance options for those of us that would like a challenge. So this should fit most everyone's skill sets.
Before I start with more details about this sew-along I have some really exciting news!!! Well it's exciting for me anyway. My 16 year old daughter, Hannah, is wanting to do this sew-along with us!! She hasn't really taken an interest in sewing. (Despite all my hopeful coaxing) So this is a big deal for me as you can imagine. I let her know that I would help her out and you know what my fiercely independent daughter told me? That she would only follow my posts and instructions there. Said that it wouldn't be fair to others. I have such a wonderful daughter! This is an added bonus to me because if she doesn't understand something then I'll know to amend my instructions.
I know that we won't be starting until July 1st. But that doesn't mean that we won't have plenty of things to do this month. Doll clothes might be small and we might be only sewing for "Dolls", but that doesn't mean we skimp on quality.
I am gathering supplies to make kits. The kits will cost $25.00 each and will be available for sale soon. I ordered everything online so you will be able to purchase the same supplies if you wish. Or by all means use your own creativity. Would love to see what different looks come out of this design.
What you will get in the kit:
- Mi Amor Duchess Satin Blue
- Mi Amor Duchess Satin Pink
- Blue Lining
- Pink Lining
- Black Rabbit Fur (collar)
- Lycra/Spandex (gloves)
- Pink Tulle (petticoat)
- Black Lace (bodice)
- Mi Amor Duchess Satin Black (belt)
- Metal Belt Buckle
- Metal Snaps
- Organza (underlining)
- Gutermann Thread Blue
- Gutermann Thread Pink
- Free Pattern
When you order the kits you will have to let me know what doll you are sewing for. This way you will get the right buckle size and pattern.
I have also started a Flickr Group so that we can share our progress. At the end of the sew along I would love for us all to post a picture of the finished outfit and have a party. Everyone that posts pictures in the Flickr group will be entered in a drawing. The winner will get 4 free patterns of their choice from me. On July 31st my son, Jesse, will draw the lucky winner. So be sure to post some pictures!
If you would like to join this sew-along enter your email below. I will send you an email every time I post something new.
I love hearing from you guys so leave me a comment and let me know what you think.
