You see, Sam and I were going to make this table this weekend while he's home. But since he didn't feel good I really wanted to surprise him and have it finished. BUT...that means that I would have to use his power tools without his knowledge. And that also means that I use the miter saw and skill saw without any, and I mean ANY supervision. A first for me. So off I go with all the ambition and just a little know-how to get the job done. The top is actually on of the closet doors that we too out of the room. I cut the end off to size but that left a hollow spot at the end. So then used scrap lumber to fill it in. Next came the trim. I measured and mitered the ends to fit. Then just nailed it all together. Boy, I really do love that nail gun. Can't wait for another project. Might even have to make one up just to use power tools again.
So once the table is painted it looks like a real table top. Even looks a little professional looking. But I think the best part of this table is that when I sent pictures of it to my perfectionist husband all he could say was WOW.
Tomorrow my sewing machine is going in the room and I'm going to make some curtains for those window. It will be the first time in a long time that I actually will be able to sit down in a quiet room to sew. Looking forward to it.
